What we collect
Meal Swipe Stats collects only what's needed to show your pacing stats:
- Remaining and total meal swipes (scraped from your university's meal portal)
- Semester start and end dates (entered by you during setup)
- Away periods (dates you enter manually)
- Your graduation year (entered during setup) — used only to understand the demographics of who uses the app
- A randomly generated ID (UUID) to identify your account — no name, email, or student ID is ever collected
How it's stored
- Your data is stored in a cloud database (Supabase) and accessed only via your anonymous account ID and a secret key stored locally on your device
- The Chrome extension stores your account credentials and semester config in Chrome's local storage on your computer
- Paired devices store your account credentials in the browser's localStorage and in a first-party cookie on the same device — this allows the dashboard to work when installed as a home screen app (PWA) on iOS, where the PWA and Safari have separate localStorage but share cookies
How it's used
Your data is used solely to compute and display your meal swipe pacing stats. It is never sold, shared with third parties, or used for advertising.
Permissions the extension uses
- Host permission for your meal portal — to read your remaining swipe balance
- Alarms — to schedule automatic syncs every 4 hours
- Storage — to save your account config locally
- Windows / tabs — to open a background window for scraping (minimized, closes automatically)
Deleting your data
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time using the Reset button in the extension popup or the account deletion option on the dashboard. This permanently removes your data from our database.
